Discussion: Learning Objectives and Effective Training
Learning objectives are very important in designing training. In theory, you start with them. In practice, you start with a draft. They often change a bit during design and development. It is just the nature of things. It is a bit like writing a paper - sometimes you have to write the whole thing before you can settle on an introduction.
The chapter talks about 5 kinds of learning objectives. And then it goes on to discuss how to write really good objectives. Good objectives use strong verbs. See Tables 5-6 and 5-7.
Thinking about the situation you described in your Week One Training Needs Analysis, what sort of objectives would be appropriate? Please share at least one learning objective that might work for your scenario.
