There are two methods for finding the radial velocity of a target. One is based on the Doppler shift, the other is based on the rate of change or range with time delta(R)/delta(t).
a) What is the expression for the velocity error delta(v_d) from measuring the Doppler shift using a long RF pulse of width T and frequency f?
b) What is the velocity error delta(v_r) from measuring the velocity from two range measurements R1 and R2 separated by a time T and then computing the velocity via (R1-R2)/T.
c) For the same T in parts (a) and (b), compare your results from above and discuss which method if the more accurate one given typical radar parameters.
