There are mostly two kinds of Video Tele Conference systems:
1) Desktop systems are add-ons to normal PC's, transforming them in Video Tele Conference devices. A range of various cameras and microphones can be used along with the board that contains the necessary codec and transmission interfaces.
2) Dedicated systems have all needed components packaged in a particular piece of equipment, usually a console along with a elevated quality remote controlled video camera. These cameras can be controlled from a distance to move up and down, till left and right and zoom. They are termed as PTZ cameras. The console includes all electrical interfaces, the control computer and the software/hardware-based codec. Omni-directional microphones are connected to the console, and also a TV monitor along with loudspeakers or and a video projector.
