Question: Class: Organizational Design
SOCIAL NETWORK PERSPECTIVE
The social network perspective on organization design takes as its starting point the fact that human beings are "social creatures" embedded in "networks of relations" with others that are instrumental to the accomplishment of "many of life's tasks", both within and outside of formal organizational settings (Kilduff & Krackhardt, 2008: 1). According to this view, it is both the "formal relations of authority" and the "informal links across departmental and hierarchical boundaries" that holds business organizations together and enables them to accomplish their goals. Help to understand this.
