The simplest transporting devices are wheel barrows and hand trucks. These are still in use in number of small industries all over the country. Figure (a) shows a hand truck. Figure (b) shows a wheel barrow or a wheeler. Wheelers are particularly used to handle the materials inside the shops. Wheelers are nothing but a form of a box provided with wheels.
These equipments involve a large amount of manpower for a relatively small load. The chief advantage of the equipment is its very low. Cost its great flexibility and its easy portability from one job to another. However in many cases power operated equipment should be substituted for equipments of this kinds which is mainly used because of tradition.
