The purpose of this project is to use the World Wide Web as an instant source of up to date information that relates to the Project Management Institute and Professional Certification procedures, exams, documents, training and the market value in terms of a job market.
The outcome of this project should be an Executive Brief (maximum 3 pages) dealing with a topic related to the PMI, Project Management Professional (PMP) and other Certifications. It should provide clear and sufficient information to a young professional about requirements, procedures and benefits of receiving PMP Certification.
Main components of the paper should touch on the following issues:
- history and present of PMI Certifications (some statistical data, background of PMI)
- cost
- documents and procedure (e.g. all certification types / levels)
- available training, on-line training, books, manuals
- requirements (educational requirements, experience requirements)
- job market for PMP certified managers (positions, salaries, career steps)
Imagine that you work for the company that is deliberating an implementation of the Project Management culture. This 3 page document is your only chance to convince your boss to allow you enroll in the appropriate PMP Certification training and to have your corporation pay for it. You have to make a very good case for the Project Management driven corporate culture in general and for the benefits of PM skills in particular.
