The purpose of report is to reflect upon the ethics based challenges facing U.S. firms that seek to establish international relationships.
Your audience is the Board of Directors of a medium sized U.S. based firm. The BOD is in the early stages of considering the creation of an international business relationship and needs to receive an effective/efficient report that provides insight into the development effort. The BOD believes that the firm utilizes effective and efficient management and operational practices but is concerned about management’s level of sensitivity to various international ethical behavior standards that are different than those that management is accustomed to in the United States. Your report (beginning and then expanding upon the launching points noted above) will provide management with both an overview of some common general differences between U.S. domestic and international ethical standards and four detailed examples of specific differences that may have escaped management’s attention.
Your report should include (but not be limited to) analyses of the concepts of Opportunism, Individualism, Collectivism, and Institutionalization. Overall, the report should educate firm management about the need for the strategic plan to specifically address the topic of ethical behavior and social responsibility.
