The paradigm shift from the classical school to positivist school is one of the most important theoretical shifts in the field of criminology. For the first critical analysis, students must critically analyze the merits of both the classical and positivist schools of criminology.
All work in this course is to be composed using APA format, and include the following sections:
Introduction;
An overview of the classical school;
Strengths and weaknesses of the classical school;
An overview of the positivist school;
Strengths and weaknesses of the positivist school; and
Which school - classical or positivist - has the most merit in explaining criminal behavior.
