Reflecting on the previous weeks' readings and discussions the students will have an opportunity to research how the media, written and digital, such as Hollywood movies, TV news, programs and commercial endorsements, radio talk shows, magazines, newspapers, newsletters and the newest technological means of communications portray disability and persons with disabilities in reference to their characteristics and physical appearance, and their roles in the society. Your analysis will focus on a) how the media influences society's perspectives toward disability and persons with disabilities, and b) if the media has added to the discrimination of persons with disabilities; or c)if the media, as it continues to evolve to be more inclusive, has improved the perception of disability and persons with disabilities.
