The movie "What the Health" has been in the media lately and has received both positive and negative coverage. The movie makes ~37 health claims based on epidemiological studies, clinical trials, case studies, invitro experiments and non-peer reviewed publications. We will screen the film in class and you will be responsible for identifying 5 "evidence based" claims. Once you have identified these claims you will first submit your 5 claims via Slate and then you will need to fact check them.
I have already found 5 claims. Can you help me to summarize/fact check each claim. Here are the 5 claims that I identified:
- Meat causes cancer (Ruling by the world health organization)
- Do we have to eat meat to get enough protein?
- Eating 1 egg per day is just as bad as smoking 5 cigarettes per day for life expectancy.
- The roles of alcohol, sugar, smoking and meat based diet towards heart disease.
- Children are suffering from conditions linked to dairy consumption.
