Your company has completed all of the steps required to construct and implement a customer relationship management (CRM) system. You are assigned as the project manager for the CRM project. Discuss the processes that should be followed to construct and implement the system.
The information technology (IT) staff in your company consists of six individuals: a systems analyst, a manager, and four programmers. There are currently two projects scheduled to be completed within two weeks. The completion of these projects will make most of the IT staff available for other assignments. Your job is to evaluate alternate methods of building the CRM system and installing it within the next three months. You also need to make recommendations to the executive steering committee about the alternative to be pursued. You need to choose from the following four methods:
Develop the system using your own IT staff.
Purchase and modify a commercially available software product.
Outsource systems development and its operation.
Use an application service provider to provide a CRM system to your company.
Research these methods and provide your recommendations and the reasons for your choice.
