The Higgs boson was recently observed in experiment. Consider two strategies for Higgs production in a high-energy particle accelerator through collisions of proton and antiproton: proton + antiproton -> Higgs.
a) A moving proton collides with a stationary antiproton,
b) A proton and antiproton have equal and opposite moment.
Taking the rest energy of a proton (and antiproton) to be about 1 GeV, and assuming that the rest energy of the Higgs is about 100 GeV, how much energy is needed to produce the Higgs in a) and b)?
