The effect of chemical structure on the glass transition

The effect of chemical structure on the glass transition is an important feature of polymer behavior and has been intensively studied because of its importance.

Unfortunately much of the current knowledge on the subject remains empirical due primarily to the difficulty of separating the intramolecular and intermolecular forces. Please discuss this subject in terms of main chain structure, the influence of side group(s) and the effect of copolymerization.
