NARRATIVE

The Customer receives a Travel Guidebook from Amazon, then reads the book and chooses locations. The Customer also views locations on Google Maps using the Map Program as well as the Earth and Satellite Master files. After comparing information in the guidebook with information on Google Maps, the Customer makes Flight Selections on the Kayak website using the Flight Program by retrieving information from the Flights Master file and entering information into the Flights Transaction file. The Customer also prints an Itinerary using the Flight Program and the Flights Master and Transaction files.

After Kayak receives the Flight Selections from the Customer, they are processed using the Flight Program by retrieving data from the Flights Master file and updating the Flights Transaction file. The Flight Selections are then forwarded to Expedia, who then forwards them immediately to the Airline. The Airline also receives Air Traffic Reports from the Airports and Safety Alerts from the Governments. The Airline uses the Flight Selections received to search for current prices using the Flight Program and Flights Master file, then sends a Price Quote to Expedia. Finally, the Airline prints a Price Confirmation using the Flight Program and the Flights Master and Transaction files and files it in the Price Confirmations file cabinet by flight number then by date.

After receiving the Price Quote from the Airline, Expedia displays the current prices to the Customer using the Flight Program and the Flights Master and Transaction files. Expedia then processes the customer payment using the Accounts Payable Program which updates the Flights Transaction file and enters a new record into the Payments Transaction file. Finally, Expedia sends a Payment Confirmation to Kayak.

Kayak creates a confirmation email using the Email Program and the Flights Transaction file, then sends the email to the Customer. Kayak also prints a Flight Confirmation using the Flight Program and the Flights Master and Transaction files and files it in the Confirmed Flights file cabinet by customer name then by date. After receiving the email, the Customer compares the information in the email with the previously printed Itinerary, then files the Itinerary in the Travel file cabinet by location.
