Adding a Measure of Mental Health Care Quality.
The chief of psychiatry notes that prompt treatment is important in the treatment of several psychiatric conditions. “Prompt treatment is known to be effective in depression, post-traumatic stress, substance use disorders, and serious mental illness. We should have a goal of follow-up within 30 days whenever one of these conditions is noted as a possible diagnosis. I will propose some measures to track our performance. Can the team lay out a strategy to build a program and measures to encourage prompt diagnosis, and follow-up for identified cases so that they can be contacted for prompt evaluation and necessary care?
