You have been hired as a consultant by an organization/Business. The company is a small to medium business which specialises in selling goods and services primarily using their corporate website.

Recently they have noticed a drop in sales. Upon analysing the sales they notice a trend in this sales drop. The younger customer segment (18 year old - 30 year olds ) are placing less and less sales orders using the corporate website. Additionally the CEO and CIO share with you the organization plans to expand the organisation over the next five years to be more geographically dispersed increasing revenue by 20% year over year. This growth however is not sustainable with the current technology which is hosted at the organisation's headquarters.

Prepare a strategy report for the Chief Executive Office and Chief Information Officer which analyses the current state of the organisation and existing concerns. Identify current market trends to identify and suggest some digital innovation / technology options which may be able to assist the organisation.

Assignment 2-

This assignment is separate from the journals you have produced earlier. You are expected to write a thoroughly analysed report on the following.

The Chief Executive Office and Chief Information Officer was impressed by analysis of the current issues the organisation is facing and the recommendations you provided. They would like you to explore the solutions a little further by analysing how to potentially adopt some of your digital innovation recommendations into the organisation. They are interested in understanding which technology needs to be adopted, how it can be integrated, any structural or managerial changes which are needed and how to build digital trust within the community and market place. The organisation does not have a lot of additional capital and as such requires a detailed cost benefit analysis to be performed and kpi's to be identified to ensure the digital innovation is being integrated in an efficient and effective manner.

Case Study

Taxi 131 008

Using the Taxi company as a case study will be difficult. The report is supposed to be around a retailer who has a corporate website and a single geographical presence.  The Taxi 131 008 can be used but need to be careful and link back to the problem statements.

The body of the report as outlined above should include the aspects which are requested as part of the problem statement and the marking criteria.

For this type of report and the subject you should be able to do 20 references easily.  This is the expected minimum for this level of study.

Report Content

The problem statement focussed around two issues

1. The reduction in web site sales from the 18 - 30 year old customer demographic

2. The need to grow 20% year over year but with the current hardware and infrastructure unable to support this growth.

The report did not flow well and present the reader (CEO and CIO) with a good understanding of the problem and causes of the problem.  The market analysis focussed on the company and not on the problem.  Later in the report this was discussed but poorly referenced.   Using internal documents to talk about demographics trends and the youth market's focus on smartphones does not give the reader and external perspective of the issues.  Also you are a consultant hired by the organisation, need to relay new information to the company.

The second problem statement was missed and not discussed.

You need to use more critical thinking and analysis as the technique to introduce relevant information, assess relevance of the information as it pertains to the problem statement and then offer an analysis on how to apply the information within the situation.

The report relied on presenting reference information but not on how it applies or how to use the information to solve the problem.

The conclusion included concepts to expand globally, this however was not dicussed in the report or how to do this.  Also the problem statement was national expansion not global.

The value proposition would have been better to use the course material of the lean canvas or value canvas to outline the value of introducing a mobile app and cloud computing.

Hope this provides you with some feedback on the report.  As you only completed one problem statement the maximum this report could have obtained would be 50%.  Given the other few issues this would be highly unlikely.
