Briefs for cases assigned consist of a brief rendition of the facts (about 5 sentences), the most relevant legal Issue, the Rule of law applied in the case (a somewhat general statement of the law that is both applicable to this case and to future cases), Application or Analysis of the rule (how the court applies the rule to the facts of the case), and Conclusion (decision of the court). This will sometimes be referred to by the acronym IRAC.
