1. When the attorney arguing to uphold segregation left the Supreme Court argument, he felt the majority of the court would follow precedent and vote to uphold, but the court unanimously struck segregation down. Based on what you have learned, what do you imagine occurred to produce the resulting decision?
2. Over 50 years have passed since the Brown decision and while many things have changed, there are still inequalities within and between school districts, and within larger society. What observations can you make about the use of the law to effect change within a society?
3. At the end of the video excerpt, Vernon Jordan, says the decision in Brown was like a "second Magna Carta" or a "second emancipation" for him. Is/are there legal/social issue(s) of similar personal significance to you today?
