Art can touch our lives in the subtlest ways. Recently I was waiting for a friend in a parking lot, enjoying the warm sun and the beautiful blue sky, when I spied some interesting art on the side of a Dell taco. I couldn't believe my eyes! These metal cut outs were clearly inspired by Mexican paper cutting, which is also called papel picado! I wondered how many people enjoyed these artworks, whether or not they understood the inspiration. I've attached an image of them. You can see examples of authentic papel picado using the link below.
The art of Mexico is vibrant and beautiful. Other crafts include the mola, which is layered felt. Often these colorful pieces are abstracted images from life.
