The Affordable Care Act brought about many things which have helped patients. For example, elimination of the pre-existing condition clause has enabled many patients to get health insurance who otherwise would have had no options. The most controversial aspect of ACA however is the individual health insurance mandate which requires all Americans to carry health insurance or be penalized with an additional tax each year.
