Teview clips from baby driver and drive

Assignment task: For this week I want you to watch the following clips from Baby Driver (2017) and Drive (2011). Both of these films are incredibly similar in their stories, but almost total opposites in terms of tone and atmosphere. Baby Driver was written and directed by Edgar Wright. Some of you might be familiar with his work. He has also made Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. Drive was directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. He has also made Only God Forgives and The Neon Demon. These films center around a getaway driver who doesn't speak much. Both films open with the protagonist waiting to pick up some criminals who just committed a robbery, and a police chase ensues. Baby Driver - Opening Scene Drive - Opening Scene As you watch both scenes, I want you to focus heavily on the editing and sound of each. What stands out to you about each scene in terms of their tone. How is that reflected in the Editing and Sound decisions? What makes these scenes similar, and what makes them totally different. What stands out about the Sound Design of each scene? How does the music control the rhythm of each scene? Finally, which do you prefer or find more effective and why?
