Take a job description for an engineering role in an organisation and analyse the content for the essential elements of the role (duties and tasks, responsibilities, incentives, direct and indirect reports and relationships). (LO1.1)
Identify how performance for the individual is to be measured, based on the job description. (LO1.4)
Consider the job description for the immediately superior position in the same organisation and outline the essential elements of the role as above. Again, identify measures of successful performance for this role and highlight the elements of the job description which refer to management of the subordinate. (LO1.3)
Based on the above information, design a revised job description for the subordinate role in the same format as the original, which will enable the mangers' role to be more effective, justifying any additions or deletions. (LO1.2)
