Survey for not providing adequate incontinent care

Problem: You have just been hired. You learned during the interview that the facility was cited during the most recent survey for not providing adequate incontinent care to their residents. When responding to the 2567, plan of correction, the facility indicated that they would institute mandatory q2 hour checks of all incontinent residents and that the nursing assistants would update the medical record after each check. As an expert DNS, you know that which of the following is true? Knowing that the surveyors will check that this plan is in place during your next survey, you will enforce it moving forward. The plan of correction is not resident specific and needs to be amended through the QA committee. Since you know that your units are not staffed sufficiently to comply with this plan, you will change the plan moving forward. In order to make care system changes that are different than previous plans of correction, the administrator and governing body must be informed.
