Refer to Example 1. If the nonconformance production rate is 2% and we wish to detect this with a probability of 0.98, what should be the acceptance control chart limits?
Example 1
Refer to Example 2 and the nitrogen content data. Suppose that the proportion of nonconforming product is 3% and we want to detect an out-of-control condition with a probability of 0.95. Find the acceptance control chart limits.
Example 2
The nitrogen content of a certain fertilizer mix is a characteristic of interest. Random samples of size 5 are selected, and the percentage of nitrogen content is found for each. The sample mean X‾ and range R are shown for 20 samples in Table 7-12. The specification limits allow values from 12 to 33%. A process nonconformance rate of more than 1% is unacceptable. We want to construct 3σmodified control limits: that is, limits with a type I error rate α of 0.0026.
