In Section we derived the formula for the BER of binary FSK using noncoherent detection as a 2.special case of noncoherent orthogonal modulation. In this problem we revisit this issue. As before, we assume that symbol 1 is represented by signal s1(t) and symbol 0 is represented by signal s2(t). According to the material presented in Section, we note the following:
• The random variable L2 represented by the sample value l2 is Rayleigh distributed.
• The random variable L1 represented by the sample value l1 is Rician distributed. The Rayleigh and Rician distributions were discussed in Chapter. Using the probability distributions defined in that chapter, derive (7.245) for the BER of binary FSK, using noncoherent detection.
