A researcher is investigating factors affecting success of fishing trips in particular lake. One model is that the number of fish caught is entirely random as well as has nothing to do with any environmental conditions on any particular day such as time of day, temperature, rainfall, and so on. This model implies that there is no such thing as a good or bad day for fishing and variation from day to day in number of fish caught is random. To test this theory, a fisherman fished lake for exactly 4 hour on 50 different days using the same kind of fishing equipment (same bait etc.) and the number of fish caught recorded for each and every day.
The resulting data are given below.
Number of fish caught 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 or more
number of fishermen 4 12 7 8 11 5 2 1 0
Do these data agree with a model in which the number of fish caught on a particular day is random? Give p-value
