Study program for at-risk children

Z case study:

Read and carefully consider the following public relations scenario. Respond to the question in the form of a 1-3 page paper.

Persuading People to Support a Cause One of your family members volunteers in an after-school study program for at-risk children This local nonprofit is struggling to make its budget numbers and to keep the doors open during these hard economic times The program, coordinated in a donated space that was formerly a small insurance agency, serves several dozen adorable K-5 children. Over the years, a number of these budding young students have gone on to college. Your uncle asks you during a Sunday dinner if you could come up with an example or two of how best to appeal to several people in town who are known for their philanthropic giving. This is not a mass appeal and it is not intended necessarily for the media, although you are convincing in your advice that media coverage should be part of the plan. Gather one or two examples either from the local community or from the Web and provide simple, clear annotations for your uncle, explaining why you think these materials use effective persuasion strategies to set the stage for an “ask” to the large local donors.
