STRESS OF HOSPITALIZATION
Stress refers to the imbalance between the environmental and societal demands and the child's coping abilities and resources that puts them in a state of disequilibrium. The admission process has three-aspects which can be stress full for child and parents.
- The social environment of the admission setting;
- The physical environment of the hospital unit to which the child is assigned; and
- The nature of the admitting procedures to which the child is subjected.
