I want you to do well on this first assignment, but there are some rules you must follow, so this is what I am going to be looking for in your research paper, due at the end of week 4.
If you really want to do a good job on this then you MUST write from an outline, and if you're unsure of how to write one, there are plenty of sites on the Internet. In addition, I will be happy to look at yours as well as your draft of the paper before you submit it, so please call me with any questions.
If you do not submit assignment 1, you automatically lose 14 percent. If you fail to submit both assignments 1 and 2, you automatically lose 28 percent. That's three letter grades, which means that the highest grade you can receive in the course is a C, even if you get 100 percent on every other assessment.
Your title must be the same as the assignment topic. EXACTLY the same.
Omit photographs and art work, but if you include graphs or tables, then you must explain them.
Don't begin with a history of the country or where it's located or its main industries, agriculture, population, etc. Get right to the point.
Do not use any phrases that begin with "I think . . ." or "In my opinion . . ." or "I knew someone who . . ." This is a research paper, not an opinion piece.
If you list a reference in the bibliography, it must be cited as a source in the text of the paper. Ten references = ten citations in APA.
Do not list URL (web) addresses either in the bibliography or as citations in the text. Use the author's name and date of publication.
Do not quote long paragraphs, because they take up too much space. Use few lines only and then paraphrase the rest.
MAKE CERTAIN YOU SUBMIT A TURNITIN WITH LESS THAN A 20% SIMILARITY INDEX. OTHERWISE, I CAN'T READ YOUR PAPER FOR A GRADE.
