Sources of US Law of Contract
However the Law of Contract Act 1961, S. 2(2) provides like, except as may be provided through any written law to the time being in force, hence the common law of the England relating to the contract like modified through doctrines of equity and throughout the Acts of the United Kingdom Parliament justified in the schedule to the Act, when to the extent and subject to modifications in the said schedule there should extend and apply to the US. Thus the U.K. Acts specified in the schedule are as follow:
- First is the Law Reform as Married Women and Tortfeasors Act, 1935. And
- Second is the Law Reform (Frustrated Contracts) Act, 1943. And
- Third is the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act, 1952. Whereas this Act is no longer applicable, having been rendered inapplicable through S.10 of US Disposal of Uncollected or uncoupled Goods Act, 1987.
