Sonology: This is the study of hearing. Sonology is a type of science of neologism which is used to describe the study of sound in a variety of disciplines. In medicine, this term is used in the field of radiology to describe the practice of medical ultra-sonography. Sonology is also used to describe interdisciplinary research in the field of computer music or electronic music.
Sonology is widely associated with the Institute of Sonology, that was established by composer Gottfried Michael Koenig at the University of Utrecht in 1967 or it is later moved to the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in 1986. This term has also use to adopt to describe the study of electronic music at other institutions. The term has been less generally used to describe the use of sound for religious or therapeutic purposes.
