Abstract:
In this paper, the Social Issue that is addressed is Gender Inequality and the effects it has on a variety of aspects of life for women. One specific way is how it manifests within the education setting for those in a Leadership position. For as far back as history will tell us, women have faced Gender Inequality in nearly every aspect of their lives in one way or another. Oxfam International states, "Gender inequality is one of the oldest and most pervasive forms. For centuries it has caused discrimination and exclusion of women, non-binary, and trans people from social, political, and economic life" (2023). The article goes on to say, "It has also blocked women from leadership roles and has led to increasing gender-based violence (Oxfam International, 2023). Though teachers are thought to be women, they still face challenges in gaining leadership and power within their field. Questions and ethical concerns surrounding this topic will be explored and analyzed through research.
Approach to Writing
My approach to an abstract is to create a snippet or small piece of something that draws the reader in with wanting to know more about the topic. Furthermore, I think when writing an abstract, it is also important to include pertinent information that is easy to understand while also being credible and informative in nature. I explored several resources and tried to choose one specific path for the research to highlight the issue in relation to the leadership in education field.
My Perspective
What I found easy about writing this abstract was delivering it in a way that was as if I was telling someone in person what I was writing and researching about, and what they should expect from my work. What I found challenging was narrowing down my ideas into a short abstract because I am mindful that what goes in the abstract needs to be concise. It is important to me that I take the most important message of the paper and make it into an abstract.
