Slip-On Flanges

Slip-on flanges are limited to use under the following conditions:

ASME/ANSI B16.5 standard forged flanges for design pressures and coincident temperatures not exceeding the pressure-temperature ratings for Class 150 flanges, as specified in ASME/ANSI, except that the maximum design temperature shall not exceed 650^oF (343^oC).

Custom designed flanges, for design temperatures not exceeding 650^oF (343^oC); and for flange thickness not exceeding 3 in (76 mm).

Corrosion allowance does not exceed 1/16 in (1.6 mm).

Carbon or low-alloy steel flanges attached to solid high-alloy necks are limited to design temperatures no higher than 450^oF (232^oC), unless a higher temperature is justified by a complete stress analysis, and approved by the User.

Minimum design metal temperature (MDMT) is not lower than -20^oF (-29^oC) for carbon steel or low-alloy steel.

Vessel is not for lethal service.

Vessel or nozzle is not for cyclic pressure or temperature service, or subjected to cyclic loadings from associated equipment.
