Six models of educational management


Question 1: According to the theory of leadership proposed by John Adair – Action-Centered Leadership – stress is laid on the three crucial sets of needs – Task, Team and Individuals. Critically describe the roles and duties of Heads of Schools in reconciling these needs. Give illustrations from your field of work.

Question 2: Tony Bush (2003) proposed six models of Educational Management – Formal, Collegial, Subjective, Political, Ambiguity and Cultural. Critically analyze all of them and state which one/s you find suitable for and relevant to the Mauritian Secondary Schools.

Question 3: Different kinds of organizational climate exist at school level – Open, Autonomous, Controlled, Familiar, Paternalistic and Closed. Write in brief on all of them and critically explain any two of them. Sustain with illustrations from educational institutions.

Question 4: Heads of Schools should possess various leadership skills and competencies. Recognize any two of them and critically describe and relate their significance for the smooth and efficient management of schools. Give illustrations from your experience.
