Question 1:

(a) Critically examine the typical type of education planning which went on in most places prior to the Second World War and contrast it with framework of education planning developed by educational leaders in the early 1960s

(b) “The dominant strategy in education planning has shifted from expansion per se to change and adaptation”

Reflect on the above quotation and discuss and explain what new forms of micro-planning (in the inner processes of the education system and its sub-systems) in Mauritius, are being undertaken to enable “change and adaptation” which will contribute to achieve “World Class Quality Education” targeted by the Government.

Question 2:

(a) Critically examine the internal and external factors that policy-makers have to consider in small island states like Mauritius for the formulation of appropriate Educational Policies.

(b) Examine the definition of costing and benefits of planning for education, in developing countries like Mauritius.

Question 3:

Critically examine how education policies have evolved and changed to respond to political and socio-economic needs of the country since independence in the year1968. You will have to reflect and explain strategies employed to respond to emerging issues like poverty alleviation, gender, mixed capability teaching and HIV aids in the local context while planning for education.

Question 4:

Critically examine the significance of marketing in Education and describe the impact of e-learning on sound marketing strategies discussed in class.  You might wish to refer to the context of your school to provide concrete instances and to sustain your argument.
