Problem:
Shortly after the second march, local whites attacked three white ministers who had joined the demonstrations killing Unitarian minister James Reeb. In contrast to little media attention the death of Jimmie Lee Jackson received, Reeb's death attracted major national notice and a few days later President Johnson demanded Alabama Governor George Wallace mobilize the National Guard to protect demonstrators. Should SNCC participate in this third attempt to march from Selma to Montgomery?
