Should gun violence or threats of gun violence be considered

Problem: While mass shootings tend to dominate the headlines and those who perpetrate them are often described as evil, gun deaths that are the result of homicides, accidents, and suicides typically draw less attention but account for the majority of firearm related deaths. In the past two-years calls by unregulated militias and other groups are also causing concern as these groups appear to desire and promote a second civil war by encouraging like minded individuals to stockpile arms and ammunition. Should gun violence or the threats of gun violence be considered a modern day evil? Why/ Why not? What is gained if this is considered a modern day evil? What problems are created when this is thought of as a modern day evil? Use specific evidence to support your position.
