Computer Integrated Manufacturing
Project Description
With Creo 3D modeling software, you will implement a product assembly, which is composed of several parts. For you need to submit an assembly design with at least 6 DIFFERENT parts.
You should demonstrate the use of as many modeling techniques (such as extrude, holes) as possible. In addition, you will
a) Select one part from your design suitable for CNC milling process and generate a manufacturing process plan for it, including CNC milling program generated with Pro/Manufacturing.
b) Improve the assembly with DFM/DFA methodology. The purpose of DFM/DFA is to improve the current design and make it easier for manufacturing and assembly.
a. For you need to improve it with Design for Assembly (DFA) methods.
you need to submit a one-page project abstract, with the following components:
1) Project Objectives
a. What product assembly is going to be modeled and analyzed?
b. List the parts in this assembly.
c. Select parts that will be improved by doing DFM/DFA analysis.
2) Project Management
a. List the main role of each group member (manager, technician, analyst, etc.). One member can assume more than one role.
b. List the responsibility of each group member (manage the team, model which parts, who is responsible for assembly, who does the DFA, who does the DFM, etc.).
c. List the expected percentage of each group member's work.
PowerPoint presentation should include: title, outline, project description, project details, designed part pictures, assembly pictures. A rubric to oral presentation evaluation will be disseminated to help with the presentation.
At the end of semester, you need to submit the project report, the PowerPoint presentation file and the Creo assembly design files via Blackboard. Before you submit your files via Blackboard, you need to compress all your files into a .zip file and submit the .zip file. Please remove unnecessary files such as history model files or trail files in your submission before you compress the whole folder. The final project report format should refer to the project grading criteria as below for detailed requirements.
A complete project report consists of the following components, assembled in the order indicated below. Margins should be one inch on all sides with single line spacing and the font size should be no smaller than 11 point.
