ASSIGNMENT QUESTION
PURPOSE
The purpose of this assignment is to develop learner's ability to identify and assess how human resource planning, recruitment and selection (which is often described as key functions within any company) is administered in a selected organisation and to discuss the effect of labour market on staffing. While activities like planning and developing HR policies for recruitment and selection appear straightforward, yet the labour market trends and its effect on this, is vital to explore in the current state of Malaysian economy.
REQUIREMENT
1. Review 3 - 5 research-based articles related to organisations and the influence of labour markets on an organisation's human resource supply and demand.
2. Conduct an interview with a HR Manager of any selected organisation of your choice. The interview should cover the various strategies and techniques on planning, recruitment and seletion. You may refer to your / selected company websites and interview the HR Manager himself / herself. Support your answer using real examples.
QUESTION
Part 1:
Select and review 3-5 research-based articles related to organisations and the influence of labour markets on the organisation's human resource supply and demand. Take into account shortages and surpluses or adequate workforce in the market.
Part 2:
Select an organisation that you are familiar with (either your own company or a selected organisation) and the HR Manager. Provide relevant information and make the operating environment clear. Do not disclose the name of the organisation unless you have obtained permission from the management. Explain how planning, recruitment and selection of human resource take place in that organisation.
Part 3:
By comparing and contrasting the information gained from the articles and interview; discuss the labour market effects on planning, recruitment and selection in that particular organisation. Examine specific occupations, sectors or locations and the key shifts that take place over time such as the continuing growth in employing part-time workers, outsourcing, administrating flexible working hours and, most recently, the surge in self-employment.
Part 4:
Provide recommendations to enhance the planning of recruitment, selection and employment activities (HRPRS) for that organisation, in the current state of Malaysian economy.
Assignment Format:
a. Use double space and 12-point of Times New Roman font.
b. The assignment should contain about 3000 - 5000 words (15 - 20 pages).
c. Provide reference using the American Psychological Association (APA) format.
d. References should be latest (year 2012 onwards).
