Seeking healthcare as the issue of stigma

Assignment task:

The chosen client is a woman who has undergone an abortion For a client who has undergone an abortion, the main challenge that she may face when seeking healthcare is the issue of stigma. Abortion is often associated with stigma in that a person may develop feelings of shame and guilt, preventing one from seeking the necessary medical care and support (Seewald et al., 2019). This is the main challenge the woman faces as she tries to seek care. Additionally, she may fear being judged by healthcare providers or even family members, preventing her from having post-abortion care. For instance, not doing follow-up medical visits or getting the much-needed psychological support. Consequently, there is a possible health complication that the client can be vulnerable to whenever no medical follow-up is done. Post-abortion infection may be a complication for this client because whenever an immediate follow-up is not done, then there may be retained conception products causing an infection (Seewald et al., 2019). The signs of such a complication include abnormal vaginal discharge or even fever, among others. Therefore, it is critical to have an immediate medical intervention to prevent the complication from becoming severe into an inflammatory disease.
