Second Gear Position: When gear M2 on the main shaft is in mesh with gear C2 on the countershaft then this is known as second gear position. To rotate free gear M2 with the main shaft, it needs a help of fixed gear. The fixed gear M3 slides on the main shaft by the help of shifter fork and comes in contact with the gear M2 and turns the gear M2. Since gear M2 is in mesh with fixed gear C2, hence C2 is turned causing countershaft to rotate.
