Other Employment Costs - 22.3%
Annual Benefits Cost Per Employee - $8,800

2) Prepare a budget based on the following:
Based on the number of teaching units received - calculate the teacher salary, OEC amount and annual benefit amount.
In addition to teachers assign one Principal at a salary of $92,000 and the appropriate number of Assistant Principals based on the Delaware formula - each with a salary of $83,000 (again include OEC's and benefits). You do not need to add any other staff.
Allocate costs to (you may add additional categories if you wish):
Textbooks
Instructional Supplies
Student Body Activities
Phones
Utilities
Computers
Contracted Services
Your estimated revenues are $7,500,000.
3) Explain your rationale for allocating expenses to the various categories you have been given (include terms from class notes).
Your grade will be based on correct calculations of a unit count, final product includes the elements of a budget (must "look" like a budget and neatness counts), math is correct and you have applied terms and practices described in our first 2 classes.
Please show all formulas used and all math calculations so I can give partial credit where applicable.
Instructions for part 2 of the assignment
You need to multiply quantity by price (number of staff times the average salary) to obtain the various salary items.
OEC's or Other Employment Costs are a percentage of the total salary.
Every employee will have benefits - again - use quantity times price.
You do not have a lot of history or detail at this point - spend your revenue on the various items - you can add to the list. During the process make a list of additional information you would like to have if you were compiling the budget as a needs based budget. These items will be part of a discussion board and class discussion.
Do not include calculations in the budget itself - they should be separate.
Do not overthink the allocation of your remaining funds - your grade will be based on math calculations being done correctly, it looks like a budget, it is balanced.
Here is the information on how to calculate principals and assistant principals for the state for Delaware
In addition to determining the units or number of teachers to be employed with the state funds the unit count determines many other positions.
Determined by location:
Principal - 1 for each school over 15 units (never more than 1/school)
Asst. Principal - .65 at 25
1 at 30
1.65 at 50
2 at 55
1 every 20 thereafter
