Discussion:Sampling Strategies for Mixed-Methods Research Designs
How we choose our sample for our study has important implications for when we make interpretations. Sampling choices are especially important for mixed-methods research designs because elements of both qualitative and quantitative designs need to be taken into consideration in choosing the sample.
Tasks:
Respond to the below in a minimum of 300 words:
Describe two sampling methods and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each for use with a mixed-methods research design.
Describe how researchers go about selecting a sampling strategy.
Describe the role that the research question plays when you choose the sample.
Describe what it means to have a representative sample, and why this is vital to the outcome of the study.
Response should rely upon at least two sources from additional professional literature, such as articles from peer-reviewed journals and relevant textbooks. Write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources (i.e., in APA format); and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
