Develop an alternative to the biofilm detachment model of Project 2 by eliminating any bacterium above a designated height from the surface. An example of such situation is a constant-depth film fermentor, a device that periodically removes the surface growth to maintain a biofilm with a constant geometry. Researchers use this system to grow and study oral biofilms (dental plaque) in the laboratory (Picioreanu et al. 2004; UCL Eastman Dental Clinic 2008). Run the simulation long enough to observe the pores gradually filling and formation of a compact biofilm.
