Risk of transmitting a serious genetic defect to the child

Problem 1: Purdy argues that it is immoral to have children when there is a high risk of transmitting a serious genetic defect to the child. Explain briefly what her argument is and then evaluate it. (Note that her argument is NOT an argument in favor of abortion--if you think it is, and then reread the article.) Would Brock agree or disagree with her? Why?

Problem 2: Compare and contrast Callahan and Rachels on the subject of killing versus letting die. Be sure to explain what each thinks about the distinction, the arguments each gives for his position, and how each might critique the other's position. Which do you think is correct?

Problem 3: Explain how the principles of utility and equity often come into conflict regarding allocation of scarce resources during a pandemic.

Problem 4: Describe how racism is morally wrong by explaining how it violates the fundamental moral principles of respect for persons, justice, and utility. Be sure to discuss this in terms of medical ethics (rather than ethics in general.)
