Then brief essay that analyzes the strength of their argument. Considering our discussions on effective introductions, conclusions, and paragraph development, discuss whether Caldwalladr's/ McIlwain's essay is compelling and engaging. It would be best if you also began to discuss the strength of their argument based on the ideas of Logos, Pathos, and Ethos.

Be sure to provide specific examples from the text and explanations for your points.

What I Will Be Looking For

For this assignment, I am not interested in your opinion on the topic. While these articles address some very interesting and important topics, this essay aims to analyze the arguments being made and assess the articles' overall effectiveness. In other words, you are making the case that the writer made a compelling argument/article or that the argument/article was ineffective.

I will mainly be looking at how closely you interact with the ideas of Caldwalladr's/ McIlwain's essay and how well you develop your explanations of your point of view. Make sure you clearly explain your thoughts on the arguments/articles and that your discussion has a clear purpose. Your essay should be focused and specific. I will also look for correct grammar usage, word choice, and spelling.
