Assignment task: This discussion covers a short TED talk from quite a few years ago. The man giving the talks co-founded the Tinkering School, which lets children experiment, problem-solve and build (and use power tools). Though the talk is older, the Tinkering School is still around and Gever Tulley is still giving talks and writing about this topic. It is an interesting take on experiences that may enrich children's cognitive, social, and physical development. This is a 'food for thought' video - you can agree, disagree, agree on some points and not others, etc. It's just an interesting talk that will hopefully be a fun way to get the discussions this semester going.
