Problem:
The article "The Stigma of Obesity: A Review and Update" highlights the underlying issues with weight loss in healthcare. Weight bias is an ongoing issue due to many misunderstandings and misbeliefs. It is often seen in healthcare because there are many conditions that are associated with obesity. Some include hypertension, respiratory issues, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, etc. However, this does not mean every overweight person has these conditions. Furthermore, it does not indicate that the person is not physically active or has an unhealthy diet. These negative weight loss stereotypes have increased because many believe excessive exercise is the solution to optimal health. This results in people constantly checking their weight and always reaching a different weight goal. It is important for everyone to know a "normal weight" can vary from person to person.
