Assignment Directions:
1. Take time to read and review any two children's books you think your child reading buddy would enjoy. As you select books, consider age of child, interests, maturity, etc. Consider visiting the children's book section in local library or in a local book store for book ideas.
2. Choose one of those books to read to the child.
3. Write about your reading experience, telling about the two books you reviewed, the book you read to the child, and analyzing the experience as well as for how and why the child responded the way they did. Your writing needs to be three paragraphs composed of the following:
In the first paragraph, list the authors and titles of the books you reviewed. Then write a brief summary of each book. Identify which book you decided to read to your child and explain why you chose it. Describe how you thought the child would react and why.
In a second paragraph describe your experience reading the book to and/or with the child. Share your observations of the child's reaction to the experience in general and to the book itself.
In a third paragraph reflect on the experience. Consider the following questions: Was the book you chose to read a good choice? Why or why not? What surprised you about the experience? What did you like or dislike about it? What did you learn?
