Question: Choose any current social issue or problem and discuss how two of the main theories covered in the second half of the semester [conflict, functionalism, symbolic interactionism, dramaturgy, any of the feminist theories] can help us understand the issue or problem. In responding, 1) first, describe the problem/issue, 2) then explain how each of the theories chosen would explain the underlying social dynamics involved, i.e., the social sources of the problem; next, identify 3) how would each theorist from that tradition address the problem, i.e., what is the proposed solution, and then 4) conclude by taking a stance on which theory you think best lends itself to addressing the social issue or problem, and why. Your answer should be about 2, double spaced, pages and should include concepts from each of the two different theorists chosen to support each of your points above.
